Editorial * The first issue of a magazine concentrating on written & educational content over patterns. * The first steps of a new international Network bringing all knitters together. * The first time we get to prove what were capable of giving the knitting world. I dont want to go on much more in this space, there is a much longer press release inside giving you all the pertinent details, but this is my place to say were glad you have given us this opportunity to convince you of the goal of INK - to be the Resource for Independent Knitters like yourself. I must say that personally, I sat on the fence for almost a year before deciding to start a new Network bringing hand and machine knitters together. I knew how large an undertaking it would be, having published a magazine for the past four years. The deciding factor for me was fellow knitters doing what they do best, sharing expertise, advice, contacts and support. They are the Executive Board listed on the opposite page. You see, every time I said I have an idea Id like to get your reaction on, they enthusiastically urged me forward, often removing barriers along the way. We were all convinced that with 4 million knitters in the US alone, and many more overseas asking for help, that there really was a need for a publication and organization devoted to education, comradeship, and support. Other entities may exist, and I wish them a long life and prospering growth, but people love options and so there is a place for INK also. From the Lets go ahead in January until now, a lot of work has been done. It may seem like substantial calendar time, but for the designers who sketched & knitted, the article writers who swatched, photographed and edited, and the graphics and editorial staff that pulled it all together, the time flew by remarkably fast. Were off and running......Diane Piwko
