Our Complete First Issue On-Line!

Presented Just as it Was Published

PLEASE READ - This page is to introduce you to INKnitters magazine. It contains the articles and patterns just as they were published so you can see for yourself what the talk is all about. However, the Internet is not conducive to maintaining layouts and formatting exactly as a magazine page is produced. For that reason, we have provided the articles and patterns as PDF files to maintain the look and feel of our magazine. This means that downloads  may take several minutes to display. To return to this page, use the back key of your Internet browser. In some cases, clarity of pictures may be decreased from the magazines quality to facilitate internet access. If you do not have a PDF viewer, click below to access a free copy.

Editorial
Welcome everyone to the start of something new in knitting. This is a time of firsts.

* The first issue of a magazine concentrating on written & educational content over patterns.

* The first steps of a new international Network bringing all knitters together.

* The first time we get to prove what we’re capable of giving the knitting world.

I don’t want to go on much more in this space, there is a much longer press release inside giving you all the pertinent details, but this is my place to say we’re glad you have given us this opportunity to convince you of the goal of INK - to be the Resource for Independent Knitters like yourself.

I must say that personally, I sat on the fence for almost a year before deciding to start a new Network bringing hand and machine knitters together. I knew how large an undertaking it would be, having published a magazine for the past four years. The deciding factor for me was fellow knitters doing what they do best, sharing expertise, advice, contacts and support. They are the Executive Board listed on the opposite page. You see, every time I said “I have an idea I’d like to get your reaction on”, they enthusiastically urged me forward, often removing barriers along the way. We were all convinced that with 4 million knitters in the US alone, and many more overseas asking for help, that there really was a need for a publication and organization devoted to education, comradeship, and support. Other entities may exist, and I wish them a long life and prospering growth, but people love options and so there is a place for INK also.

From the “Let’s go ahead” in January until now, a lot of work has been done. It may seem like substantial calendar time, but for the designers who sketched & knitted, the article writers who swatched, photographed and edited, and the graphics and editorial staff that pulled it all together, the time flew by remarkably fast. We’re off and running......Diane Piwko
